Most Anticipated

Cobra Kai (Season 5)

The smash Netflix hit Cobra Kai based on the classic Karate Kid universe returns for a fifth season, and the action/comedy is bigger and better than ever! Another classic character returns, with Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) joining the cast. Karate Kid fans will remember him as the rival in Karate Kid II when Daniel joins Mr. Miyagi in Okinawa. Following the conclusion of the All Valley Karate Tournament in season 4, the villainous Terry Silver continues to run Cobra Kai how he sees fit, and he's out to ensure that his style of karate is the only game in town. It's up to former enemies Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) to stop Cobra Kai in its tracks.

I love this show so much, and am captivated at how much it pleases both fans of the classic movie series as well as those looking for a hilarious and enthralling tale about personal relationships and loyalty. Former enemies must put aside their differences and realize that they're different people now, and unite to stop true evil. Having these teachers and adults juggle both their personal conflicts as well as leading the new generation of karate students makes for some surprisingly compelling stuff. I can't wait to see what happens next in this world they've created, and you know where I'll be when the fifth season drops on September 9!

What I'm Watching Now

The Sandman (Season 1)

They did it. They finally did it. Neil Gaiman, the creator of Sandman, was right. The Sandman has finally been created for the screen in a way that successfully captures the wonder and gothic noir of the classic graphic novel series. Fans of the comic series will be overjoyed with how faithful the adaption is, and for those uninitiated, you're still in for a fantastical ride as all ten episodes of The Sandman have a little something for everyone. Part fantasy, part thriller, part drama, the first season follows Dream of The Endless (the personified creator of all human dreaming) as he sets off after over a century of imprisonment to recover his stolen tools and recapture his realm, The Dreaming. From the sets, to the costuming, to the special effects and stellar cast, there's no aspect of The Sandman that doesn't earn it's almost perfect reviews and scores from critics and fans worldwide.

What I love the most about this series is how much they've managed to condense the admittedly long story from the comics into lean, story-driven episodes. And it's done in a way that leaves no major plot points or details aside. You feel for the characters, especially Dream himself, and can't wait to see what happens next as he undertakes his mission to reclaim his power. The Sandman tells a tale of redemption in a fantastical world, and if you're a fan of the comics, or love the genre, you can't miss it. All episodes of the first season are on Netflix, and fair warning...we're talking about one of those bingeworthy shows that you won't be able to stop watching. Check it out!
