Telus TV remote codes

Hello,

I've been trying to program my older Sharp TV (LC-60SQ15U) for some time now. Its at least 10 years old. Using the built in method in setting doesnt work. Also tried the manual remote codes with no success. Both the the TV firmware and the TELUS TV remote firmware and up to date. Codes tried:

SHARP 017, 187, 011, 214, 213, 326, 214, 213, 011

Some older Sharp Aquos TV's actually respond to codes originally designed for Denon/Pioneer receivers, as they shared certain IR libraries back in the day. This at least gives us a few more codes to try that potentially may work:

    1081

    1009

    1165

    1004

If those don't do the trick either, the next step is a Power Search. This forces the TELUS remote to literally cycle through its entire internal library of codes one by one.

    1. Turn your Sharp TV on.

    2. Press and hold the Options button for 3 seconds until you see the little green light flash twice.

    3. Enter code 0002. (you should see the light flash twice again)

    4. Press the CH+ button repeatedly *but slowly*. Each press is sending a 'power off' command to your TV.

    5. Stop immediately the moment your TV turns off.

    6. Press the Power button on the remote to turn your TV back on, then press OK to lock the code in.

If this doesn't work after roughly 50 tries of step 4, it's likely that the hardware between your remote and your older TV simply won't work. One last note is that if you have HDMI-CEC (I believe Sharp calls this 'Aquos Link') enabled in your TV's menu settings, our TELUS box can often control the TV's power and volume through the HDMI cable itself, bypassing the need for you to even need a remote code.

Let us know if that works!

Oh, if you're on our new digital equipment, yes they'd be three digit codes. The steps above still apply, but here's the specific extra codes to try first:

        010

        009

        018

        180
