HDMI control of devices not working

Community Power UserI have recently gotten a new Samsung TV and have a Yamaha RX-V485. I suspect yours is actually the RX-V585? In any case I've tried various scenarios but was unable to effectively get things working without resorting to my Logitech Harmony to control everything.
I suspect I MIGHT have been able to get things working as expected if all my devices were plugged into the TV. It seems to want to be the 'master' and caused problems for me. Unfortunately I can't do this as I have more devices than ports on either my receiver or TV.

The Samsung seems to be finicky and I had to resort to unplugging it to reset the CEC settings on more than one occasision when I was playing with this. In my research there are more than a few posts with people having problems with CEC and their Samsung TV's:-(
