Duplicate hydro pole still in place
Hello,
BC Hydro moved their lines to a new pole earlier this summer and cut down the old pole, which still has Telus lines attached. As a result, there are now two poles on my boulevard and we're trying to schedule landscaping repairs.
Could you please advise how to find out when Telus will transfer their lines and remove the remaining pole? Who is the appropriate contact for this?
Thank you.

I’m hoping you can help clarify the next steps for me. My understanding was that this was a pole replacement project. When I spoke with BC Hydro, they advised that Telus work would follow and that the original pole would then be removed.
At the moment there are two poles located only a few feet apart at the entrance to my driveway, which is quite intrusive. I wanted to confirm whether removal of the original pole is still planned, and if so, what the anticipated timeline might be.
If this is not something you’re able to address directly, I’d appreciate knowing the best way to escalate or who the appropriate contact would be.
Thank you for your help—I appreciate it.- TELUS_Support

The only time a pole would be removed is if it is rotting or poses a danger of falling. If the pole is damaged, we’ll need the following information to investigate further:
- Pole number
- Address
- Pictures of the damage
Once we have this, we can flag the situation.

Here is a tightened version with redundancy removed and the flow sharpened, while keeping the tone appropriate for a community forum:
Thanks for the response. I’m still seeking clarification on the process.
Our street was part of a pole-replacement project due to the age and condition of the existing poles. BC Hydro identified the pole as requiring replacement and installed a new one, yet the old pole has been left in place.
I’m receiving conflicting information about responsibility at this stage. BC Hydro has advised that, once a new pole is installed, it is the responsibility of Telus to complete their work and arrange removal of the old pole. Now you're telling me further identification of a safety issue has to be made. Hasn't this already been done by BC Hydro?
Could you point me to the applicable pole-replacement or removal policy? It’s unclear how a pole deemed unsafe or obsolete by BC Hydro can remain in place because another utility declines to proceed, particularly when it is immediately adjacent to a residential driveway leaves unresolved BC Hydro identified safety concerns.

Hi robbiepeterson - is the pole damaged in any way? There may not be anything scheduled to be moved if the pole is in good condition
