wifi
29 TopicsDo you need WiFi for all SmartHome devices to work?
If I've got the control panel, and several sensors (door, motion, CO2, smoke, flood, glass), do I need WiFi to make them work? I understand I would likely need WiFi to be able to control/monitor the systems from my phone, but what if I am getting the security system set up before the WiFi. Will someone (Telus?) be alerted in some way if any of the items are triggered? Can I still arm the home from the control panel itself? Thanks!Solved8.6KViews0likes2CommentsTelus never cancelled
Hello TELUS Forums, I am here posting about an issue I've recently came across. After checking my statements for the past few months I've realized that Shaw was still charging me for a service I was not using. Approximately 4 months now. After speaking with an agent and successfully changing providers from Shaw to TELUS, I told the agent to cancel on our behalf to save us from the headache of cancelling the Shaw account. However, now from what I've been told is that TELUS never sent a cancellation of the account therefore they kept continue to charge us for those 4 months. I'm so lost and confused on what to do now. I guess I'm here posting seeking some guidance on the matter. Being charged with around $400 + a $165 cancellation fee, after being told it would be covered by TELUS because of the switch is insane for them to not put up with their end of the bargain.3.8KViews0likes1CommentBasement Suite Wifi
HI all, I am not super tech savvy, and I need help figuring out internet for my basement suite tenants. Looks like I have the Nokia ONT (is that right?) and the NH20A on the first floor, and the Wifi 6 boost upstairs in our main living area. The basement tenants have been on the guest wifi that I set up on the Boost, but lately it has been really really slow. I would like a permanent solution, and read on here that some people have bought another router and set up a 2nd wifi network. Also, it was mentioned that a "bridge" would be needed too (dont know what that is). I would like to do all that, but have no idea how. I am able to do some basic networking stuff, so if anyone could provide me with some instructions, that would be fantastic. Thanks.3.8KViews0likes1CommentHow accurate is data usage in the app??
I signed my grandparents up for the internet for good wifi. It’s supposed to be 300gb a month. We just had the installation one week ago but for some reason my app is showing that I’ve exceed my monthly data limit. It shows 1.25 gb/ -1gb. I’m so confused cause my grandparents don’t use internet at all except for the newly installed Telus home security and smart tv (only watch tv, no streaming).3KViews0likes3CommentsFiber 300
Your modems don't have their own wifi? You also conveniently have a service where I can pay an additional $10/month for more boosters.... This is straight extortion, I now have the booster sitting next to the modem which is RIDICULOUS (see picture). I only need one more booster to cover the house properly (again, only because your modems dont have wifi abilities) and after waiting 2 hours to talk to someone the guy says he can do nothing for me. Very pleased with the service once a device which provides wifi is within range, definitely not worth it if its a floor and 4 rooms away.2.9KViews0likes1CommentAfter well over a year of major issues it suddenly wants us to sign in to the WiFi network?
Our WiFi is suddenly, on every device, telling us to "sign in to WiFi network" which first of all makes no sense. We're not a business or something and we've never had to sign in before. When we do click sign in it asks if we're a new customer or existing When we click existing it then says "webpage not available"2.8KViews0likes1CommentHow To setup my Wifi Boosters to broadcast only 1 network
I live in Toronto. I have 100MB home internet from Koodo. I also have Telus Smart Home Security. My WAN modem is Sercom Modem DM1000. It connects to a B21A WiFi Booster from Telus. This device is defaulted to broadcast 1 network ID (SSID). I have 2 additional (DWS) booster (Range Extenders\) from Telus Smart Home Team. These devices have their own network that’s different from the main B21A booster. Instead of having multiple networks broadcasting, I want all these devices connected to same one network that will also work with my Smart Home Equipment. I’ve got conflicting information from the support team about what these boosters are capable of …. I was told I couldn’t connect any devices to these B21A boosters, except for Security devices. Then, I was advised I could add additional devices, however everything needs to be connected to the factory default settings. After I set everything to default, and it still didn’t work, I was advised that is my ISP that blocking it. Since we live in Ontario, and need to use Koodo, it’s not possible after all. Then I was told it’s the Sercom modem that’s not capable for what I want, and other models could do it, but they couldn’t say which ones. It's been frustrating experience and could really use some guidance. Thanks!!1.7KViews0likes2CommentsInternet disconnects and times out randomly

Hi, I have the integrated Telus Wifi Hub/ONT (tall white cylindrical device where the fibre optic cable plugs directly into the hub). I want to create a second wifi network (ideally with its own unique IP address since Telus allows for 2 public IP addresses) for guest use separate from my own personal network (want more security than the built-in guest network). What's the best way to go about this? Would it be to set Port 1 of the wifi hub to bridge mode, and plug in a router directly to Port 1 of the wifi hub? Would this allow the guests to access the internet via the router, and myself to continue access via the telus wifi hub? Or do I need to plug a switch first into Port 1 of the wifi hub, and then have that connect to two separate routers? Many thanks!Solved199Views0likes2CommentsTelus Won't Let Me Cancel My Internet
I have tried numerous times to cancel my internet with Telus but they won't cancel it. I've called multiple times and they keep saying the request is put in and someone will call to confirm, but no one calls. They continue to lie and deceive. I would not recommend Telus to anyone.151Views0likes4Comments
