Panel Voice not functioning

Replaced a door lock due to intermittent off and on line issue.  Panel voice would announce lock and unlock when lock activated.  After replacing the old lock, the panel voice no longer functions with replacement.  Panel voice vocalization for sensors is ticked and works with other locks.

 

Is the lock possibly faulty or does something need to be reactivated?  The replacement provided is a  Weiser SmartKit 620

It sounds like there may be a connectivity or compatibility issue with the replacement Weiser SmartKit 620 lock. If the new lock isn’t activating the panel’s voice announcements, but other locks are working as expected, this might indicate either a setting that needs to be adjusted or that the lock hasn’t fully integrated with your Telus SmartHome system.

 

Here are some steps you can try:

Recheck Settings: Confirm in the panel settings that voice announcements are enabled for all new devices. Sometimes, adding a new lock requires reactivating these settings specifically for that device.

Reconnect or Re-Pair the Device: Remove the lock from the Telus system and then re-pair it. This often helps sync new devices fully with the system.

Confirm Compatibility: Although the Weiser SmartKit 620 should work, not all models are compatible with all smart systems out of the box. Check if there’s any additional setup required for this specific model in the Telus SmartHome app.

Check for Firmware Updates: If possible, check if there are any firmware updates for the lock that could improve connectivity or functionality with your system.

The problem may have originated with the Telus SmartHome app.  I initially installed replacement lock using the app.  To fix this issue I had to remove the installed lock keeping the lock intact and connected to key pad.  I removed lock and reconnected successfully by using the panel.  With my first attempt I disconnected the lock from the key pad but that meant the lock was initially installed insecurely.  I removed, connected the key pad and tried again successfully.  Voice panel now activates when lock activated and everything appears to be working as intended.  It is quite possible as the garage is located some distance from the panel that using the app prevented a clean install due to connectivity between panel and app.
