Older Hitachi compatibility with new optik box

I've got an older hitachi cmp4211 plasma without hdmi input  , just scart , rca , vga and dvi .  I hooked up an adapter cable from the telus box (hdmi to dvi) and it worked fine , decent video for what it is .  But of course no audio. I've got two rca mini audio jacks . Could I run another adapter from the telus box optical audio to these ports or is there a better way to gain sound ?  Im not the most literate when it comes to electronics either .

You could definitely try that for sure. If it doesn't do the trick, you always have the option of calling 310-8324 (TECH) and having our Tech Support team take a crack at it as well.
