I understand why Telus would pull a credit report when establishing a new account. That's a normal business practice. What I do not understand is why Telus reports the account activity each month to Transunion and Equifax when the account is setup for automatic payment IN FULL. I am prepaying the account half a month in advance NOT using any Telus credit facilities. Other accounts like Internet, Cable TV, Electricity, Heat, Water & Sewer are managed in a similar basis...payment in full each month. None of them report to Credit Agencies. What's with this oddball Telus behavior?

credit rating is established by your payments being reported as paid or unpaid.
On the other hand credit checks done by others often can hurt

you obviously did not understand my answer. all bills are a loan even if paid in full each month and is reported monthly that you got a bill and paid it. what you see may be monthly credit checks which would be unusual

TELUS reports account activity to credit bureaus to maintain transparency and help customers build their credit history. This is standard practice for services. We understand how this might seem unusual compared to other utilities. Reporting activity to credit agencies ensures compliance with industry standards and provides accountability on both ends.
