Southeast Calgary no Cell service in/ around home

Just trying to figure out if its my phone or on telus' end. I recently got the samsung galaxy S5 and i have no service around my house in southeast calgary. There are 2 spots in the house where i can send and receive text messages which is quite annoying to say the least, yet my buddy with an iphone 5c has full service everywhere in and around the house including the basment, where i basically have to walk out to the street to make calls and send/receive text messages, telus has changed my sim card to the new one since the one from my old phone was out dated, it made no difference. I just need to know if my phone is the problem or if i need to just bite the bullet and get a cell phone signal booster for at home. Thanks in advance.

Hey @gixxer6

Does your friend with the iPhone 5c use TELUS or another carrier?

If they are using TELUS, then it's likely an issue with the S5 units. If, however, they are using another carrier, it's probably poor coverage. They may have adjusted the node positioning on their tower. If that's the case, there isn't much you can do.

Oh yeah sorry I forgot to put that, yes he's on telus as well.

Yep, looks like it's an issue with the S5 @gixxer6

You will want to pop into a telus corporate store to have the device replaced. If you are within 30 days of activation, they will do a DOA swap. If you are outside that window, then they will give you a loaner device (free) and send your phone to be repaired/replaced.

Seems you have answered your own question. If there is a difference between two phones connected to the same carrier, the difference must be the phones.
