I'm currently in the final year of one of the old 3 year corporate plans and to be honest, I don't like what's being offered in the current 2 year plans. I understand that if I buy a new subsidized phone when my contract ends I will have to enter a new contract, but if I choose to instead keep my current phone, or even buy a new unlocked phone (for example, buying a new iPhone at full price directly from Apple) will the terms of current contract continue indefinitely? Could I be paying even less since the device balance will be paid off? How does it work after the contract period is over?

For personal contracts, usually the plan stays the same when the contract expires unless you make any changes to the plan or get a subsidized phone. I'm not 100% certain if the corporate plans work the same way when the contract runs out.

The difficulty with corporate contracts is they are managed through the contract supplier, not Telus. If you need to make any changes to your plan, you may be SOL, if the contractor does not / is not able to make changes for you. The supplier of our employee plans from 3 years ago is no longer managing them, and we have to deal with the new guys.
I agree the older terms were much sweeter than the current ones.
