Given you signed your contract a year ago, you'd have to pay off the remaining device balance before you can start a new contract. That being said, you could take your one-year old S3 to a TELUS store and see what they would give you for that phone in trade-in value. That trade-in value might help offset the cost of the remaining device balance. You would then be free to start a new contract and take the S4.
