Will telus be carrying this phone?

Hi SA and welcome to the Telus Neighbourhood. You'll see that everyone here is helpful. I was wroking for Bell, 10 years ago and the policy in regards to new phones is probably the same. Because of specific agreements with the manufacturers, the mobile providers don't have much control over the choices of hardwares and their OS. It's like asking your local gas station to change the engine in your next model of car. You can buy $300 of gas, they still won't be able to impact your car's features. The key is to frequently search on Google and to choose if you'll be an Apple, Android, Rim or Windows user. The arrival of a new device (like the Samsung S5 or Iphone 5s) is now becoming an event, which complicates things for the providers. When I was working for Bell, we were told about a release date only few days before the phone was available.

I wish they had an Android variant. I'd go for that. Metro is a horrible interface and is way too visually busy.

I am also interested in when this will be available at Telus.

I was a little dissapointed that it isn't different than the Nokia Icon - It's exactly the same....but with coloured back plates. 😞

I believe that's the point; it's just the international variant of the Icon. Hence why it isn't releasing in the US!

Regardless, I'd love for Telus to carry this phone, as well as the 630/635!  I'm due for an upgrade this December, and the 930 is just what I want in a phone 🙂

I am also interested in the Lumia 930.  It's the Windows Phone device I have been waiting for and may be the device which i switch carriers for, if TELUS decides not to carry it.

Please sell this phone! I'm due for an upgrade soon and would love to move back to Windows phone. My old Optimus 7 died too soon, so I switched to Android. Let me jump back onto the Windows phone without having to move to a new carrier please.

The Nokia Lumia 930 is the phone I've wanted two days after I was forced to buy an iphone 4s 64GB almost two years ago.

Telus Calgary, Alberta, please give us this phone now so I can give the mickey mouse iphone to a kid that it was made for!!!

A refresh must be coming because the Nokia 1020 seems to be no longer available from Telus.

Hi DunCanuck, I'm currently using a nokia Lumia 625 and I love it 🙂 We'll only know few days before it's official if TELUS will have the Lumia 930 and I,m hoping that we will have a phone to replace the Lumia 1020 but I really don't know for now. Keep an eye on the website for any news about it http://www.telus.com/en/qc/mobility/catalog/ .

SuperFred, I just want to say that I monitor this thread a few times a day and I do appreciate your response (I thought we were being ignored for the longest time).

Just want to add that checking the website for a new model is not the best use of technology - couldn't we have a section that states what new models are being considered by Telus (or asked for by customers)?  With the possibility of being emailed if/when the model(s) we want are available?

The ability to choose the O/S would also be a bonus (it was available in the past) - Android and iOS do not offer anything that is even remotely usable to me.

The ability to see/search only all available Windows Phones would be a blessing.

Thank you for listening.

Thanks SA, yes, using this forum is a great way of sharing the information. Wallywest gave us a pretty funny example and thanks to him for sharing this with us. Welcome to the TELUS Neighbourhood SA!

SuperFred and wally_west, thank you both for your replies and the warm welcome to the forum.

I can see how complicated the device manufacturers can make it for the providers - I guess only time will allow this part to change.

I still would appreciate a quick way to find just Windows Phones on the Telus website - to me, all the others are not worth considering for the things I want a phone to do.

Even this conversation is a great new direction though.  Thanks again!

I'm hoping that Telus decides to rake the Lumia 930. Last time I had to settle for a Lumia Ativ because a Noka wasn't available. This time I'm going to go with whatevercarrier has the 930.

Seems Telus is going to be carrying the Lumia 635 soon. So they're covering low end, how about getting top end now.

Still no word on this yet? I'm going to keep this on the front page in hopes that Telus sees that there are customers who are interested in this. Not everyone with an interest will post on this site.

I also want the 930 please - or any high end Win 8.X phone.   Not sure why they culled the 1020!!

Why not import a Lumia Icon then?  From what I read it should work fine on TELUS....

I just might grab an Icon / 930 unlocked once they become available without Verizon Branding - as they are terrible for keeping firmwares rolled out at a decent pace.   Currently loving my unbranded unlocked Nokia 925.
