So the storage on my phone showed a TON of miscellaneous files.  I couldn't tell what they are but figured I'd delete them and see what happened as it took up so much space.  I probably shouldn't have done that as it turns out it deleted my S Memos and the songs I'd downloaded.  So I have two questions:

Is there any way to get those files back?  Mostly the memos.  The songs are easy enough to load up again.

Also, how do I do a factory reset on my phone?  I think one of the miscellaneous files should've been kept as my phone is acting a bit weird now.  I think if I can reset everything to the default settings it will hopefully fix it.

I don't think there are ways for you to recover files when deleted since Android doesn't have a built-in recycle bin like Windows OS on PCs.

You can download free Recycle Bin applications on the Playstore next time (I'm not sure how they work so just find one and read their description or ask the developers).

Here's a video on how you can factory reset your S4:

Before doing the factory reset make sure to remove your sd card (i think it would be reset as well). Also back up all the files you need that are stored in the phone storage, also your contacts, calendars, sms (Just search the playstore for backup applications, like titanium or super backup, etc).

If you deleted them then recover them straight away then you'll 100% get them back, but if you've been using your phone

alot and over writing those deleted files... then your chance of getting all of them back will be slimmer. Try to recover

your files, you'll need to be in debug mode then mount as USB, then follow instructions from there:

I see your running mobsters rom also when I go to the file explorer and swipe left the icon that says miscellaneous shows 9880 files with 26.1 GB of memory and that I'm using a total of 28.4 GB total for the entire SD card. I tried to send a screen shot to show firsthand but I don't know how I see a lot of files when I long press on them but don't know if they are important or not I have a feeling I could delete a bunch of these files but I don't want to delete something that would really screw up my phone or effect root Lord knows I went through a lot just to unlock bootloader.

If you want to recover the data in your Android phone, just go to

Lost or deleted data files are not really gone until something new is written over them.
In fact, you can't view them directly on your device, because they're deleted. But technically, you can if the deleted data are not overwritten by new data. The deleted data only becomes invisible when they're deleted. That's to say, in a proper way, you still have a chance to read the deleted data.

Welcome to Telus-Forum. This post was written & sent it on (09-12-2013 @ 12:29 pm) - is unknown if the problem It's been fixed or not. You got enough answers to deal, with the "Deleted files" log in the links provided in previous answers.

I would suggest, before do the 'Factory reset' download the (Samsung Kies lite) open the program and connect your, Phone via USB to your PC. In the home screen, look for the option "Backup device" click it n' the backup task start. Once finished, disconnect the phone. Review if files were recover. If not proceed with the factory reset. That's all  <Bye>  "v9"

It does happen sometimes, doesn't it! Since mobile phones have no cycle bin and cannot easily recover deleted things as it does on a pc. It would be such an annoying thing! My son by chance deleted some important data from my phone while using my phone.  Hope it helps. Have a try bro, and GOOD LUCK!
