I’ve had an incredibly frustrating experience with TELUS, and I need to share this so others are aware.
My internet subscription expired in September 2024, and TELUS charged me $85 without notifying me. In October, my bill jumped to $140+tax with no warning. When I called, they offered me a new 24-month contract for internet + home security, promising my bill would be $85+tax from December onwards.
December’s bill was correct, but in January, I was suddenly charged $170! When I called, they said my home security promo was removed. To make it worse, they claimed my internet plan was $110 instead of the $82 (after a 25% discount) that was originally promised. None of this was in my service agreement.
I spent 4+ hours daily for 3-4 days trying to get this fixed. One agent even hung up on me. Finally, on Feb 3rd, an agent tried offering me a new contract with unnecessary add-ons instead of fixing my bill. When I called on Feb 4th to cancel my service, they hit me with cancellation fees because my "primary contract" was active until November 2024.
So, let’s sum this up:
This is unacceptable, and TELUS should not be allowed to operate this way. Has anyone else faced similar issues? How did you resolve it?

My experience as well. I was paying 95/mo ($10 extra because I returned their Optik box) and I just got a bill for $175 out of the blue. All I wanted to begin with, was internet, nothing else, not even essentials. I've spent days on hold, trying to get to someone to talk to and I finally did but he had no real idea. We were finally making headway I thought, when he wanted to xfer me to another department, which put me back into the +2 hour queue. I have searched all over mytelus and everywhere else but nowhere can I find how to cancel all these extras I never did want. I need to get this fixed as I'm a widow on a pension and this is a lot of money for me.
