unable to watch any of the cbc channels on telus tv plus?

i'm trying to watch the olympics on my telus tv plus on the computer.. every single cbc channel shows a home icon with a slash on it.. and when i click on it it'll say this channel can only be viewed on telus home internet??? i'm sitting at home connected to the telus home internet on my computer?? so what am i missing.. the channel works on my tv box but doesn't work on any of my device using the telus tv app

      I spent an half hour on the phone yesterday with a rep who had me delete and reinstall the app (didnt work), then told me after a long hold that there was a an outage that was impacting users sporadically; they then said they need to to transfer me to tech support - then had another 1/2 hour wait.  The transferred call was never picked up. I checked a couple hours later and it seems to be resolved on my phone at work, and Ipad and apple TV at home (at least the home slash icon was gone).  The TV plus app on my phone required me to allow location tracking while using as location was restricted to Canada.

      Still need to check another device but hopeful that it's resolved.  As noted by others caused some grief and consternation with the others in the household trying to watch the Olympics!

        That's understandably frustrating. We've seen a number of instances, with CBC rights preventing our customers from being able to watch the Olympics on the go and only in-home. Glad to hear it was all sorted however, and we very much appreciate your patience.

      My issue has been resolved. I did not receive any update nor message by text. I am glad the issue was resolved but Disappointed with lack of follow up as promised.

        ya mines been resolved too but kinda disappointing i missed out on a few days of olympic.. sure i can watch on cbc online.. but i don't want to make an account nor give them any information lol

      CBC, CBC News Network, Knowledge Network working again for me, as of early afternoon (Feb 9)

    I don't believe the TELUS TV+ app is able to accurately determine what connection you're using on third party devices.  They've done something to bypass the issue in the case of CBC because CBC somehow blocked streaming on-the-go from the channel's side for some reason, around the time the Olympics started.  You may yet need to power cycle your modem to gather a new IP, and clear the app-data and cache and force stop the app on some third party devices before logging back in.  (I'm using a Sony TV so we had a chuckle that the app seemed to think I was carrying it around with me away from home!)  On other devices, you may only be able to un/re-install the app to accomplish that.  Your mileage may vary as TELUS did a LOT of work with me over the phone on the provider side to fix other issues with my profile/account before anything finally worked...but clearing the full cache and signing back in today is what finally worked for me.  (Oh, side note: CBC News Network is now considered a 'premium' channel, not included for free with basic CBC as before - so you may need to add it 'officially' to your package now.  I would recommend using an agent to do so to get the best deal and ensure the profile syncs properly, especially if you are making other changes.  I have no idea if this change or distinction had anything to do with the issue of-mention.)

      2nd call to Telus support rep. He (they?) got CBC and CBC News Network working again by "re-synching" the tv box from his end. Apparently it was something to do with CBC itself blocking? the Olympics, which messed things up...  I still think it shouldn't have taken a week to fix!!!

  • I'm having the same issue but it doesn't work on any device or tv box... Getting very frustrated. I did download the CBC gem app and made a CBC gem account and can watch live on that but I would rather just watch it in my normal channel guide

      Mine works on the box but I’m rarely using the box to watch just all my Telus tv app don’t work

  • Have you received any update on when this will be fixed? I have had the same issue and cannot access any cbc channels on any device including my set top box. So frustrating as I watch CBC News Network all the time. 

  • I'm in Kelowna. The Telus Outages website shows no issues here, but there are issues in Surrey area, and Chilliwack, so may be related?

  • Feb 7- Same problem trying to watch Telus TV plus CBC +CBC News Network on my TV -several days now! (rebooted all the usual boxes etc. but no change) -Telus phone rep after much ("will get back to you") finally said "Yes it is an outage", but couldn't / wouldn't give details! -Frustrating to miss the Olympics!!!

      Same issue. Tv+ seems to want to pick up local BC station inverted off my home Calgary station. This is new behaviour

        Logged a call to support. Got a response today that the issue is resolved. Restarted and checked the tv+ app and CBC is still blocked.
