NH20A/T MOCA
I recently had a fiber install completed and technician installed the modem in the garage where the coaxial lines come in. I would like to relocate the modem to my upstairs media closet where all my existing ethernet lines are. I was just wondering if I am able to run MOCA directly from the ONT to the NH20A/T without the need for an adaptor on the NH20A/T side? Is the MOCA port on the NH20 able to be used as an input or would I have to adapt it back to ethernet?
Thanks

Hi!
MOCA Port Functionality on NH20A/T:
- The MOCA port on the NH20A/T is designed as an output only - it's meant to extend your network to other locations via coaxial cable
- The MOCA port supports MOCA 2.5 standard and provides up to 2.5Gbps speeds
- It cannot accept an input signal from another MOCA adapter - it only sends data out
Your Relocation Options:
- Run an ethernet cable from the ONT in your garage directly to your upstairs media closet
- Connect the NH20A/T's WAN port (ethernet input) to this cable
- This maintains full speed and reliability
- Install a MOCA adapter near your ONT in the garage
- Connect ONT → MOCA adapter via ethernet
- Run coaxial cable to your upstairs media closet
- Install another MOCA adapter upstairs
- Connect second MOCA adapter → NH20A/T WAN port via ethernet
- Note: You'll need to convert back to ethernet at both ends
- Contact TELUS to relocate both the ONT and NH20A/T to your media closet
- This requires running new fiber cable to the new location
- TELUS charges for this service but ensures optimal setup
Important Technical Details:
- The NH20A/T requires an ethernet WAN input connection
- MOCA ports are for network extension, not primary connectivity
- Your existing ethernet infrastructure in the media closet is ideal for the final setup
