Autoplay

Thanks for the explanations on Autoplay - but it is so annoying - I just wanted to ask a tech question. Here’s the scenario.

We watch part of a PVR recorded program. We want to leave or change to an app. So I press the solid square button just below the On Demand button - to EXIT OUT OF/STOP the program, which brings up a menu screen, and then I press APPS and go to another streaming program. When I return to Telus, that PVR program I EXITED OUT OF is now playing in the background. If we weren’t watching a PVR program, it goes to live TV (I guess it just picks a channel randomly? Cause we don’t watch live TV - at all).

So my question is - what can I do - to the PVR’d show, to stop it from playing on its own when I return? The problem is….if I want to go to another streaming app, I have to go back to Telus and pick another app, and when I do, the program starts playing again in the background. So….by the time I eventually get back to the PVR program to watch it….it’s almost over and I have to rewind and try and find where I was when we were watching it.

There has to be a better way. What can I do to stop/exit the PVR show so that it won’t run along on its own every time I click through Telus to get to another app.

Just for the record, if the volume isn’t turned low, when we click back to Telus, my husband and I are discussing which app to go to next and we find ourselves shouting over the autoplay PVR (or live TV) program in the background and so I madly pick and click an app, just to shut it up so we can talk.

Anyhow, anything you can offer to stop the PVR show until I CHOOSE to resume it, rather than doing it all by itself even though I stopped it, would be GREATLY appreciated (I’ll name my next pet after you lol).

    I believe this should work.

    When you hit stop and get the menu to Resume etc. select Recordings to get to the list of your recordings. Then you can go to Apps and when you exit your App you should be returned to your list of Recordings.

      Hi Fuzzy,

      So…turns out, this doesn’t work. I leave a Telus TV program and hit the PVR button to get to the PVR menu. Then I hit apps and go to another streaming platform. When I hit On Demand and return to Telus, either a show is running (loudly) on the screen, or the PVR recordings menu shows on the screen with a program running (loudly) in the background. You find yourself hitting exit, exit, exit to get to the show that is running so you can pause it to hear yourself think. We are very close to giving up Telus TV (after decades with it) and finding another option for streaming. There are other issues with the On Demand system that a Supervisor told me they are working on (I reported it at least 3 yrs ago so I’ll believe it when I see it).

        All I can say is you need to ensure that you have stopped what you are currently watching prior to switching to another source (apps, on demand, recordings) or you will encounter issues with the show that you were originally watching continuing from where you left off.
