scam

I have recently bought a new cell phone and I have set up a new account with Telus. I have already received a couple of bogus text messages that I new were scams. However, lately I've been receiving a new voice mail from Saskatchewan asking me for a password in order to 'set-up' my voice mail account. This seems very suspicious to me. Would Telus be asking for my password over the phone? Is this a scam???Solved11KViews0likes9CommentsTelus Call Phishing Scam +188881123323
I just spent an hour trying to determine whether a deal I received from a Telus number was a scam or not. The existing threads on here are unclear, inconclusive or contradictory. The info on here led me to believe it was a scam, but then after spending time calling Telus and having them check, confirmed it was in fact a legitimate call. Can we have a Telus rep confirm the info on this forum. Is “+1” at the front of the number a reliable indicator of whether it’s a legit call or not? What else can we do to protect ourselves in the case someone is spoofing the number?5.3KViews0likes2CommentsFraudulent Calls/Emails
I received a call yesterday and today from 1-866-558-2245 and 1-866-558-2277. Both were offering me an upgrade on my phone and plan, paying just 55$/ month for a brand-new iPhone 15 or Samsung Galaxy S23 and Tariff Plan for each line + Unlimited Text Messages (All network across the Canada/USA) + Unlimited Calls (All network across the Canada/USA) + 30GB 5G (Internet Data) + 1000 International Calling Minutes. I thought it was weird that they were calling for a promotion but didn’t have any of my information on file, including my email, or see that I just got a new phone/ plan less than a year ago. I asked them to send an email and the email came from promotion@telusupgrade .com and was full of grammar and spelling mistakes. Luckily I have just enough tech literacy to recognize this to be a scam, but it did take a bit of sleuthing to realize. Hopefully others can do some searching and find relevant posts to see this is a scam before falling for something that feels just too good to be true.4KViews0likes2CommentsScam call from 437 area code
It's looks like this scammer is not using automated dialers as they got past Call Control. They offered 30% off my bill. I asked where they were calling from and they said Vancouver. Area code 437 is not Vancouver. I asked what my account number was and got some random numbers that weren't even the right length. Then they hung up.3.2KViews1like0CommentsTechnician Scam
Had a technician visit 2 weeks ago for home services and he sold me on a great sounding mobility plan, when i switched from Bell EPP. I asked explicitly if I could use my Apple Watch with this contract and if this counts towards a discount for my home services. Turns out now there is no way of using the plan with my Apple Watch, it doesn’t count towards a discount on the home service, only mentioned the $60 connection fee after already transferring the number, a rep on the phone told me that I could have signed up for an unlimited plan for less, in the end I’m basically now paying more for less and I’m screwed on the Apple Watch connection. However phone reps are not letting me out of the contract or let me change it. Good reminder to never let a rep or tech let you sell something you haven’t read the fine print on … 1 month in and already can’t wait to switch away from Telus. Anonymous, if you let techs sell stuff please make sure they actually know what their selling …2.5KViews0likes2CommentsOvercharged and Scammed by Telus

Received a call and the person on the phone told me that I am offered 300 worth of security and declined the offer multiple times and he was very insistent making me repeat multiple times until I agreed in the call he told me that since I wanted to do DIY if I dont install in a month I would have to pay 100 dollars I was ok whit it but did not inform me that I would automaticaly entrer a montly billing cycle that ended up going to 315 dollars after a couple of months when I found out and called for assistance in the matter they where able to lower it but still came out as valid but when I asked to cancel it I was informed that I would have to pay 2000 dollars very confused on how the security items that I recived would cost that much and no knollege that I would have to pay that but that is when I was explained that I am in a contract to pay the monthly bill for 60 months and on the phone call was never informed of this contract the person on the phone who contacted me made it seem that it was a gift from Telus and that once installed and activated on the app I would pay for the service monthly like the phone bill never told of contract and now have to pay for the next 57 months for something I have not installed yet because of time and personal issues in the call whit the assistant they could not get in contact whit this agent that did not inform me of such matters and lied about what the offer was and once again I was declining since the start of the call saying I am ok I dont need it and dont want it still got the boxes sealed in the corner.1.3KViews0likes2CommentsFormal Complaint: Unjust Data Charges on Inactive
To Whom It May Concern, I’m writing to file a formal complaint about repeated and unjustified data charges to my TELUS account, which belongs to my young daughter. This phone is strictly for safety purposes during her walk home from school. It is not used during school due to school policies I cant even get ahold of her unless I call the school, and at home, she is on Wi-Fi or her iPad. Despite having data turned off, I was charged $50 again, I'm wondering who else has a $25 account with Telus and them giving unjustified charges. I can only imagine how many seniors or children's parents are experiencing this, seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen if others can check your billing data and not just the bill. They're scamming me and trying to say there is data being used, how so if it's shut off!Solved958Views0likes2CommentsTelus' Business Strategy - Giving lies and scamming customers for profits?
Signed up for a mobility service in Dec via Telus sales rep over the phone. Received an email with a service agreement with an incorrect plan. Rep said don't worry and they'd call back in few days to make sure everything is corrected. This is when everything has gone wrong. Rep never called back on the day promised. My activated account had an extended warranty service activated for extra $15/month without my approval. Promised credits weren't applied. My bill was more than double the amount from what was said during the sign up. Called Telus to cancel. Loyalty Rep asked for a chance to fix the issue. He said he cancelled the extended warranty and immediately applied the credits he see in the notes the sales rep had left under my account. For one particular credit, he said they would need to investigate by listening to the recording of my call with the initial sales rep. He gave assurance to give a callback by a certain day and gave his name with his employee badge number. He never called back. Called Telus to cancel again. A different loyalty rep said he still sees the $15/month extended warranty active on my account. He does not see anything about the investigation mentioned by the previous rep. When asked for a shipping label for the device return, the rep said since the porting department is closed at the time of the call, he would need to give a callback next day. He then said it will take 2-3 more business days for the shipping label to arrive to my email address. In summary, the sales rep activated services without customer's approval and gave misleading information on promo/credits to get the sign up. Other reps gave conflicting information and never gave callbacks as promised. I'm left with a huge bill with none of the promised credits applied. Is giving lies and scamming customers for profits Telus' new business strategy?912Views0likes1Comment
