I am considering taking out the security package and I would like to find out how does the remote control of the devises and appliance work

They don't. If its not on the alarm.com list it wont work. Only way is to buy one of their power outlets and hope the device has a manual power switch on it. Real pain with this system to integrate it into a smart home with other devices it has no ability to work with, IE you can set your thermostat to warm up via telus but to have a routine that also turns on your separate air conditioner when it gets too hot, (none supported by alarm.com) is impossible.
Huge shortcoming of this system, you cant use Google, Alexa, or even Smartthings as a main hub to work with it in this way.

Includes their motion sensors not being able to work with any of the above 3 mainstream smart home hubs, if you want to set your lights to motion on entry, you are limited to the 80 dollar per room non RGB lightbulbs, and they STILL will only work with telus, not the big 3.
