DC cable extension for outdoor camera.

So I've just signed up for security and got an outdoor DIY install camera my as I've already got a Google nest doorbell camera I wanted to get an additional outdoor one to cover the drive area and as per the instructions I purchased a DC cable extension. There were no options locally to get one on white so I was surprised when it arrived that it didn't work. Upon closer inspection, and after some googling I realize the standard DC cable size for 5.5mm connectors is 2.5 but this one appears smaller. Before I go am order a 5.5x 2.1 cable in white can anyone confirm this? I called technical support and the guy had no idea. You'd think the Telus generated instructions would include this nuance vs saying just buy an extension cable.

The standard DC connector for security cameras are 2.1 mm x 5.5 mm. All my cameras (not from Telus) and every cable I've seen on Amazon uses this DC connector size.
