ghost cell signal?

I just moved to a rural city in northern Manitoba (Flin Flon - boarder of Saskatchewan and Manitoba). I did some research before hand and was expecting to have some telus service.. But as soon as I landed there wasn't any. As I moved around the city I would get random bars (2 to full) of signal for a very brief moment and then my phone would light up with notifications. But then just as instant I would lose the signal without me moving. This has happened about 3 times now..twice in my apartment, once when i was heading towards Creighton, Saskatchewan. Can any one explain what is happening? Is it my phone or my service that is on the fritz? Anything helps! Thanks!

Just wanted to add that I have tried testing my phone and have popped out my Sim card several times. This would usually work, but not this time.

Looks like the closest Telus tower would be SaskTel in Denare Beach. Have a look at this link:
