Wifi calling not working

Sam6

Hey, Doing this on behalf of my bf cause his account won't link but we live out in the wood and need wifi calling other wise we have no way to contact anyone. It was working fine then at some point today Dec 12 it stopped working and he tried all the trouble shooting attempts (resetting, update and checking if it's still turned on). Nothing has changed on our end so I'm guessing it's a Tellus issue and we have no other way of contacting them so posting here to hopefully get this checked into.

Same here, down for 6h+.

Downloaded a Voip app and set up a number, only to wait for 40+ minutes to get someone who barely spoke English.

We have two phones, one with Telus, one with Koodo and both went down at the same time.  Internet is from Telus also.

Rebooting, restarting, etc. didn't do wonderful.

Didn't do S.H.I.T

The wifi calling feature just stopped working at some point today.  We have next to no cell reception at home so we rely on wifi calling completely.  It was working fine at 9:00 am but I noticed at 3:00 pm I was unable to make any calls.  I have done and redone all the resets and troubleshooting tasks on both my device and my wifi router with no issues found.  It isn't just my device that it is not working on either, neither my daughter or my roommate can get it to work on their phones either.  We are all Telus subscribers on the same account.

I have read in other posts that sometimes network issues can impede wifi calling but haven't been able to find anything stating a current issue in my area.

Does anyone have any tips or insight into what's going on?

Did you check for WIFI calling being turned on. UPDATES are a plague in resetting stuff. I am sure I had one recently.

Yes and it was turned on as was the case with the two other phones.  Tried toggling it on and off, resetting wifi calling entirely and going through the full set up again which I had to do standing at the end of my driveway where I can get a tiny spot of service in order to get the text code.  I've tried everything even factory reset my starlink router.  I'm thinking it must be a telus issue because it's not working on all three phones. 2 are android and 1 iPhone.

Unfortunately I cannot test mine as the default is Telus cell and it cannot be made to go WIFI only. Next week I will be in a location of poor cell service and I will post whether I had WIFI calling or not.

I did see greyed out choose WIFI only so maybe they are working on that.

I appreciate that.  From what I can gather these network issues that have effected wifi calling in other instances can be localized to certain service areas so what is causing the issue I am experiencing may not have any effect on the service area you are in.  On the other hand it could but if that was the case I would expect a flood of posts like mine if it was in fact a network wide issue.  I live in a remote village and we have what they call micro towers, 3 of them, that provide our community with cell phone coverage.  They are Telus owned micro towers however there doesn't seem to be any issues as I was able to use my phone normally when I went to the end of my driveway inorder to get service but technology being what it is that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't an issue, just means that if there is one, it hasn't hampered regular text and calling.  I'm really hoping whatever it is, it's resolved quickly as standing at the end of my driveway in order to make or recieve calls is definitely not an ideal December activity.

Mine also stopped working in the same time frame. 2 things in common here, Telus and Starlink. I also rely exclusively on wifi calling. Is this a Starlink issue? Or Telus?

Eagerly waiting to see.  We lost our WiFi Calling yesterday as well, and we rely on Starlink to use our Cell Phones in Marmora, ON

Yup, here we go again! Telus has issues with Wi-Fi calling!  Nothing new here. We've been down for 6h, with two phones. One on Telus  one on Koodoo.

Definitely will ask for compensation this time.

@Brandywc

The three towers have little to do with WIFI calling. They can be lying on the ground.

Your phone has to be connected to a working WIFI which is connected to the internet

Any luck on this? None of our wifi calling works connected to Telus internet and other phones connected to Starlink. Any fixes for this?? Dec 12

Wifi calling works fine for me. Telus cell and Telus fibre internet.

How many of you are on fibre vs DSL?

If you find a post useful, please give the author a "Kudo" or mark as an accepted solution if it solves your trouble. 🙂

Fiber here, telus network. Down for 16+ hours.

WiFi calling is not working for me as well in Calgary. It might be related to the many outages due to network maintenance right now.

Wifi calling all of a sudden stopped working today and has not come back on. I tried all recommended fixes on Telus website and it still isn’t working.

My husband and my phone and one of the neibours said that it won’t work on theirs either.

We have horrible service at our home and rely on wifi calling. How can I get Telus to fix this.

Looking to see what’s going on around 3pm yesterday wifi calling just stopped working on my phone as well as messaging tried all the resets multiple times  and it says on my phone network not available?

Good day everyone,

I was just able to speak with someone at Telus, and they confirmed that there is a national outage with wifi calling and that it is currently under investigation.

For those in remote areas, who do not have access to a phone at all and would need to call with an actual number, I suggest using the app "TextMe".  That's how I was able to get through to customer service.
