There is a delay when a text message is sent to me and when I actually receive it.

• What phone do you have?  What phone do does the receiver have?
• How long is the delay?
• Is the signal strong for both sender and receiver?
• are they both Telus?
• Are you using an App?  Which app?

Not uncommon, especially if using 3rd party apps. I have seen hours expire between send and receipt with iMessage.

Also, volume of traffic affects the transmission times
