If I buy a text talk n data package for USA does it only take effect once I enter the USA?

Also if I call a friend who is traveling with me will I get charged long distance as well? He is on my favorite 10 list.

The package expires 30 days from purchase. Until the package is consumed or expires, your per minute rate is as quoted for the package (all in). Calling your friend will be included in your package price. Your Fav 10 does not work while you are in the USA.
