My device balance is $0 after this month and I'm just wondering if my plan will continue to be effective. Do I need to renew my plan, or can I keep using my phone with my current plan even after the device balance has been fully paid off?

Yes, you can continue with your current plan on a month-to-month basis. You can choose a new phone at any time in the future.
You can also choose to switch to a Bring Your Own Device plan if you wish.

If you're planning on keeping your phone, ask to switch to a BYOD plan. You can save yourself $10/month. No sense giving it to Telus for nothing!
