Call forwarding

I have call forwarding enabled on my telus account.  I also have call forwarding on my home phone with unlimited long distance.

Can I forward my telus number to my home number (a local call), and then subsequently forward my home phone to a US  number to avoid long distance charges?

I was told by customer service this would result in long distance charges to my telus account, but this doesn't make sense.  Anyone have any idea????

You can't use call forwarding to avoid LD charges, domestically or in the US, you will be charged per minute for the US calling segment (not from your cell to home phone). If you intend to call across the country, buy a plan or add-on that includes the feature. If you intend to travel to the US, buy a roaming pass or investigate 3rd party options.

Why doesn't that make sense? When you forward a call from your home phone it doesn't actually go through your home phone as if it originated from there. Think of it like you telling Canada Post to forward your mail to a different address. You don't actually think they deliver it to your house first before sending it to the other address do you?
