I’m facing a serious issue with Telus that’s impacting my business and personal communications. While traveling in Mexico, I was advised to switch to a $115/month plan to avoid roaming charges, but Telus never activated it. Instead, charges piled up without my knowledge, leading to a $1,700+ bill.
Now, Telus has suspended my number and refuses to restore it unless I pay over $1,000 upfront—even though I offered to pay the fair amount for the intended plan. This number is my primary business line, and losing it is causing major disruptions.
I’ve since moved to another provider and am requesting Telus to port my number immediately, as is my legal right under Canadian Wireless Number Portability laws. An outstanding balance does not prevent number transfer, yet Telus refuses to release it.
I’m escalating this to the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-Television Services (CCTS). Has anyone dealt with this before? Any advice or similar experiences? #Telus #BusinessCommunication #NumberPortability #CCTS
