I agree, I can get very different results depending on....

  • phone screen size.  Larger screens will have shorter battery life than half screen models with keyboards
  • are you at maximum brightness?
  • do you have applications running in the background when
  • is LTE on?  I can extend my battery by using older HSPA
  • is wifi on when you are not using it?  scanning for unused wifi will waste battery life
  • is bluetooth on when you are not using it?
  • is NFC on when you are not using it?
  • is GPS on when you are not using it?
  • is airplane mode off?
  • are you in an area of weak coverage?  weak coverage means the phone and battery needs to work harder.  Enable the airplane when the phone is not used to not waste power.

I too can get a few days of battery life, especially when toggling through the services I use and do not use.  In periods of heavy use (travelling and using Google Maps), I can put in a replacement battery or use an external battery that also powers my tablets.

Depends how you use it. I get 2 to 3 days of light use from mine.

You can also make a habit of charging every night or similar. The battery does not have to be in a low charge state to be recharged. By putting you phone on a charger at your bedside, you can accomplish a number of things: charge your phone, remove 8 hours of discharge, have an alarm clock of many styles, and have your phone in reach should someone call.

If you find your phone gets so much use the battery will not get you through a 16 hour day, then I would look to a battery case such as those produced by Mophie.
