I have a tablet with a SIM card slot. Currently I move my SIM card from my phone to the tablet if I want to use the phone functions away from my WiFi. Can I get a second physical SIM card that would treat my tablet as a connected device using the same phone number?? Apparently I can't use an eSIM but I was told that I could connect my device with a physical SIM card.

No, it would become a second device with its own number, and attendant costs, depending on the plan you choose.

So the OneNumber concept I found on line does not apply to tablets? Only watches?

Sort of correct. A watch will also have its own number as well, but will act as though an extension of your phone.
