I recently migrated (using migration tool) many Windows Live Mails 2012 storage folders to my Google powered Telus email/Gmail. When the storage folders came over there was a copy in All Mail but also a copy in Sent Items. Why is there a copy in “Sent Items”? If I delete a folder from “sent items” it’s gone.
I did the same transfer to a normal Gmail Account, no copy of folders in “Sent Items”.
Is there a workaround, a copy in “Sent Items” is unacceptable.
If I would have known keeping a telus.net email account (also no Google takeout) was only a shell of a Gmail Account I would have changed email addresses.
Cheers, Brian

What you're describing is related to how the TELUS Google Workspace environment handles imported messages. Unlike standard personal Gmail accounts, TELUS email accounts are part of a managed workspace, which sometimes interprets imported messages differently — especially if messages were flagged or tagged as "sent" during the migration process. This is why you're seeing the folders duplicated in “Sent Items.”
Unfortunately, there is currently no setting to prevent this behaviour during migration via the TELUS Gmail interface, and deleting the messages from "Sent" does, as you noticed, remove them from all folders due to Gmail’s label-based system rather than traditional folders.
We recognize this is not ideal. At this time, the best workaround is to use filters or labels manually post-migration to organize or isolate your messages as needed.

I just created an Outlook Email Account with the Telus email address, storage folder names showed up but the folders were empty. How do I get the storage folders out telus email account?

It might be best to log in to mail.google.com and make adjustments this way. Since Outlook is a email checking tool, it downloads settings made from Gmail natively. Try that and let us know if that helps your situation
