Just Switched to 1Gghz Fibre Optic internet - getting slower wifi than I had with Shaw - how come?
I had Shaw 300 and 600 plans, and consistently got close to 300 and 600Mps download speeds with wifi using speedtest app. (iphone xr) - Shaw Modem Bridged and using apple airport for wifi)
Now I am on Telus Fibre 1ghz with the Telus Wifi Hub, and I get maybe 200 Mps download/upload. (same severs in all tests) In fact I had Shaw and Telus operational at same time and the Shaw was crushing the new Telus in speed.
Note I am within 4 feet of the Telus wifi modem during these tests
Telus product support had me try speedtest with an older iphone 6 several times (not using the speed test app, instead using the web speedtest) after 4 tries it showed 500Mps, but after the call with product support I am back to 200Mps....
Note
Direct wired LAN I get 940 Mps
I can run a Telus speed test from across town on the Telus my wifi app and it test me I am getting 800 Mps download + upload- but I am not even home?
What am I missing here? I was expecting higher download and upload speeds - at least as good if not better than Shaw

If your phone used to get faster wifi speeds then try a more powerful booster or router than the Telus hub (you still need the Hub as a modem). You can also reboot your hub and phone next to each other for a clean test once they are ready.
Regarding the Telus app speedtest that's the internal speed received by the Modem that's why your hardwired speed is always around 960mbps. The actual wifi speed depends on the capability of the transmitting (router) and receiving device (phone)
