I am planning to move from my home soon, I would like to know if I can install the router and home security by myself after notifying Telus the move out and move in date?

Hi there - great question.
Short answer: No.
Long answer: When you move addresses we need to remove the old address from our provisioning and then provision the new address. The tech's job at the new address is to make sure that everything is connected properly, perform troubleshooting if say the fibre strand is damaged or dirty, etc. They are also responsible to ensure that you are getting the speeds that you pay for and finally, to ensure that if there's any dead spots that they can work with the inside wiring to set up the modem in the best spot in the house. The biggest thing in our Fibre world is that sometimes the Fibre needs to be pulled into the house if the house is not set up yet.
That's only for internet. For security the list goes up. The most impactful point is that we warranty their work so if something stops working, you won't have to pay for a dispatch. If you accidentally break something and we need to repair it, you might be out of services for a few days/weeks and pay for the dispatch.
I may be over-explaining a little bit but it is important that we do everything properly. Call us a month before your move and you shouldn't have any issues. As it gets closer to your move-in date we can still work with that but the more time, the better.
