I cannot connect to stockhouse.com

I have cleared cache, deleted browser data, restarted the router and my laptop, flushed my dns however cannot connect to stockhouse.com when on my home network from any device (telephone, tablet, laptop, desktop pc).  However when I disable my wifi and use my cell data it connects.  Also when I am on a different provider (Rogers) at the coffee shop no problem.  Please advise what might be the problem.

This is really interesting... apparently there was a poor RX signal on the fibre and the Telus service person replaced a couple of SC/APC connectors to resolve.  Now I can connect to that website.  What is really odd is there weren't any other noticeable issues with our devices or internet browsing.  Really strange since it occurred consistently on all our devices when connected to the wi-fi just for that website.  Not sure if it caused a timeout or other problem but it works now.

So an issue we did not know about has been fixed which also seemed to resolve the other.

Thanks for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble accessing stockhouse.com on your home network. Since you're able to connect using cell data and a different provider, it seems like the issue might be specific to your home network.

Here are a few things we can check:

    • DNS Settings: Sometimes, incorrect or outdated DNS settings can cause issues with accessing certain websites. You might want to try switching to a public DNS like Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare’s (1.1.1.1) to see if that resolves the issue.
    • Router Configuration: It’s possible there could be a setting in your router blocking access to the site. You can try logging into your router’s admin page and look for any settings that might be affecting access to certain websites.
    • Firewall/Security Settings: If you have any firewall or security software on your network, they could be blocking access to specific sites. Try temporarily disabling them to see if it resolves the issue.

I don’t think any of those apply.

I changed the DNS addresses as indicated with out any success in reaching the web site.  Also when set to back to 192.168.1.254 (Telus fibre modem/gateway) a ping does resolve stockhouse.com to an address of 3.216.0.87.  Pinging the name or address times out.  However on cellphone when on cell network it responds but when disable cell network and connect to wifi it times out.

The Telus modem/gateway is a Technicolor NH20T.  It uses DHCP to set its DNS servers to 75.153.171.67,75.153.171.116.  The devices all point to the Telus gateway/modem (192.168.1.254) as the DNS resolver.

This all started around November 20th when I ordered the PureFibre Gigbit promotion package.  As part of the package a Boost Wi-Fi 7 was added to the network (BOOST3).  It does not have any blocking or firewall so is not the issue.

I checked the Telus modem/gateway and firewall is set to “Low” and there are no custom rules.  There are no filters or other rules set to block connections.

This is happening on Wi-Fi connected devices (smartphone, tablet, laptop) and cable connected devices (desktop) so is not related to any connection type.

The network consists of the Telus modem/gateway and the Telus Boost Wi-Fi 7 devices only.

My conclusion after investigation is it is occurring on the Telus end somewhere.

Can you try logging into the Technicolor NH20T admin interface and verify if there are any advanced settings, like IP filtering, parental controls, or web filtering, that might be inadvertently blocking stockhouse.com. Even if these settings appear inactive, toggling them off and on might help reset any hidden configurations.
