Currently, the TELUS TV+ app uses its own caption settings, which are independent of the STB (set-top box) settings menu. This means that any changes made in Accessibility / Display / Closed Captions on the STB will not override or apply to captions within the TELUS TV+ app or certain streaming services. At this time, there isn’t a way to have the STB caption preferences automatically apply to live TV through the app. We’ve shared your feedback with the relevant teams as part of ongoing improvements to the Android TV platform and accessibility features. While we don’t have a confirmed rollout date for this functionality, your input helps prioritize these updates.

Our team is aware of this issue and is working on releasing a patch to make the closed captioning scalable. We'll let them know that this continues to be an issue for you. Once we do have an update to share, we definitely will.

Any ETA, I do kind of feel like I am paying a good amount of money monthly for a beta product. This has been an issue for quite some time.
ps. In addition when entering channels from the remote the channel display on screen is very tiny, again a text scaling issue. Can live with that, but not the issue with subtitles
