Urgent: SCAM - please cancel web order TD2636615
On Aug 30, I received a call from (604)338-9379. A man claiming to be a TELUS agent offered me a "special deal" - a free iPhone 16 Pro Max with a 2-year $45 plan (100GB data). It sounded too good to be true, and I felt suspicious. He reassured me by saying I would place the order myself on the official TELUS website.
When I checked, the prices on the website were different and no free iPhone. He told me I needed to complete the order first, then he could apply the offer. At the credit check step, I hesitated because of the sensitive personal details required. At that point, he gave me his name - David, agent# TD4000 and another number (825)817-2012. I called that number and reached him, which reassured me enough to continue.
I completed the order, paid, and received a TELUS order confirmation email (just as David said I would). David then asked for my order number, postal code, and name, which I provided. But when he asked for even more information, I became suspicious and questioned him. He quickly ended the call, saying he would call me back in 10 minutes to confirm the offer, but he never called back.
Since then, I have been extremely worried this is a scam. I immediately called TELUS at (866)488-2709, but the office was closed. I also contacted the TELUS Store in Metrotown, Burnaby BC at (604)438-8920. but they told me they cannot cancel web orders. Up to now, I still have not been able to reach TELUS successfully.
I urgently need TELUS to: (1) Cancel my order (TD2636615) immediately before any device is shipped; (2) Investigate the phone numbers involved; and (3) Confirm whether my personal information and payment are secure.
Thank you!

I also received a call from "Telus promotions department" in Ontario from 1-807-907-4117 and a person named Michael who claimed that he will give me a free iphone 16 pro max 512gb for signing up for a 2 year contract with telus with 100 gb data etc, unlimited talk text etc etc...for $58 / month including tax, and the $58 includes the price of the phone and the plan plus he would give me an apple watch as well as a gift. He also stated that the device iphone 16promax would be mine after 2 years and that there was no cost upfront either or at the end of the contract. It seems to good to be true. I am transferring from Koodo to Telus and he said that Koodo would call me back in 20 mins and that I should accept the call and the device upgrade from koodo and then he would transfer the 512gb iphone 16promax into the box when they shipped it. He said there was no more 512gb iphone 16promax available and the promo was for the 256gb iphone 16promax but he found one in the warehouse for me very quickly when he looked. He said Koodo will call me in 20 mins and to respond with the exact answer to koodos questions in order to get the phone. Which seems a bit odd? I told him to have koodo call me in an hour and not 20mins and he seemed very upset about that and said why didn't you tell me that sooner? I asked him why aren't they busy on the phone calling other people? LOL Anyways, I just want people to know that this sounds like a scam and to beware if they call you also. I am going to call Telus and ask if there is actually such a promo going on. It also seems strange to be accepting a call from koodo to do a device when it's supposedly a promo with telus? He was very pushy on the phone and said that I am not listening to him and not getting what he's saying. Please beware of scammers! Do not give any personal information out such as middle names, birthdates etc.
