Is this a scam?

Got called by someone claimed to be from Telus and offered me a new plan like $30 for 100 GB/month, unlimited talk/text, USA/Mexico roaming, and international calling.

I got suspicious at this point when he verified my email and told me that there will be an request from Microsoft for email (I use hotmail email). I told them what happened.

My email account password was changed somehow. Fortunately I use two-step login (which is tied to my physical cell phone) and was able to change the password.

He sent me a summary of the offer with the email domain mobilitytelus.com.

Today they called again and made a follow-up and asked about my EPP and asked me to send my EPP email to sales @ mobilitytelus.com

I hung up at this point.

Be aware that Telus has set up a sub-company offering such a plan.  A cellular technician friend has set his family up on it and is so far very satisfied with the service.  The rate is about half of a normal cell plan and includes the USA and Mexico.  Coverage that is offered free fromm time to time by Telus and Virgin.  I have a Virgin Plan that covers Canada/USA but it costs a lot more than what the new Telus subsidiary is charging.  I am NOT saying the telephone solicitation you received is legitimate as I do not know how Telus is promoting their new company.  But the basic offer is available .

  • which, while is a better deal than what I am using, is not much different from the plan I am currently using, btw.

Hi syssmouse - the circumstances don't feel too legitimate but we can send you a private message to investigate
