Subnet Static IP confusion

Hello, I wanted to make this post as I am about to get a subnet static Ip installation and had a LOT of confusion regarding what to expect.

The major questions I had was WHERE the subnet is going to be provisioned to.

Is it provisioned to the Telus NAH? 

Do I need my own third party router?

After doing some research I have come up with 1 theory of how it works.

The technician comes and provisions/turns on your static IP into one of the ports on your NAH.

That port is now permanently being provided the static ip subnet from TELUS. So in order to use it you have to connect your own router to THAT SPECIFIC PORT that it's provisioned to.

Then you would just go to your own routers admin settings and change the WAN ip to your static IP subnet with the details provided to your email. (gateway ip, subnetmask, etc)

I'm getting it installed very soon and will update this post if I'm correct with my theory or not.

    Hi nightgawk - I do believe that we provision one port on the NAH to be the static IP port.

     

    Would this be okay for your use case, or would you need  the ability to modify the port on the fly?
