TELUS Satellite choppy video

Over the past month or so all the sports channels and now the news channels on Telus satellite no longer plays the video smoothly.  Its like there is a buffering issue or maybe the definition is now too high for the receiver to handle it smoothly?  Its got so bad you can't watch shows/sports/news anymore since every 1/2 second the frame freezes for a 1/2 second so its like watching a strobe light.  Our receiver is older, but the problem is pretty new, so something has changed in the system, broadcasting or streaming?

We can use internet program streaming without image issues, so its either the satellite transmission or our receiver.  If no one else is having this issue then its probably our receiver...?

  • Have same issue with no resolution as yet. Is this going to be resolved soon?

No the issue continues. It seemed fine last night during the hockey game but is choppy on the Sportsnet and CTV stations this morning.

  • I have been having the same issue. It started with Sportsnet and has moved to a lot of channels now. It is terrible to watch sports now, and has me thinking if I should be looking for a new provider.

Having the same issue with both HD and non-HD channels. I’ve tried every recommendation I found online and this issue continues. Any suggestions before I seek an alternative provider?

  • We were told to go to channel 512 for 5 min then try the sports channel again. They said it should be fixed by end of month. But my recording are now doing it.

  • I’m having the same problem…talked to Telus and they are aware of it. Their work around is to go to a non high def channel before going to sport net channel - doesn’t work.
