HI. So our Strata Complex is switching over to Telus PureFibre, but we didn't get any explanation on how it "should" be done. I have reviewed what Telus says on there FibreUpgrade page, and tried to understand The-Story-of-My-Fibre-Install forum post, but I have some questions. My Line Diagram for Fibre installation: TELUS CO --- "Last 100 metre" Cable Phone Pole --- House (External) --- Drill Through Wall --- Fibre Goes where?? Telus runs Optical cable from the CO to the "last mile", and then to your home. But where on (or in) your home does the Telus Fibre Optical cable terminate and what is that called (Demarcation box? )? Does the Telus Fibre connect to an active "Fibre-to-Copper" conversion box? What is the general term for this box, and what is the 2021 current brand / model that they use (so I can look up its datasheet 😄 )? I assume this conversion box connects up to the existing (twisted pair) copper wiring you have in your house (so no need to run Cat 5e or 6, copper Ethernet cables, or different then RJ11 copper phone cables), so that you can use all your current phone and router electronics. Is this a wrong assumption, and if so what does the conversion box output? In a multi-level house / townhome, will Telus run the Fibre cable to the mid-level of the house even if the current copper house wiring terminates on the ground floor / basement? Now that I write this maybe that isn't the best idea, but the thought of having an active "fibre to copper" conversion electronic device in my unfinished parking garage, on the ground floor, rarely monitored, seems like a bad idea (heat/fire safety for example, or just dust, car soot, and bugs damaging it). What would be the recommended way to "hook up" Telus PureFibre to a 3 level Townhome, where the 1st level is just a ground floor garage? Personally I would like to see all active electronics on the 2nd level, somewhere above the garage. Thanks, and feel free to add any information you think I didn't ask but would be good to know - links are fine.11KViews0likes3CommentsUnion Bay Estates / Kennsington Developements Fibre Connection?
Im just going through past announcements ect and it suggest that union bay will have 14,000 new single family units when they construction of all the residential is over. You can see the groundwork for all this playing it self out now with street lamps, roadway and the leveling of dirt in order to prepare for more condos, and residentials. My question is that according to this fibre would be needed to expand and connect the killmarnock district etc for kennsington properties etc for union bay estates nearly 2000 acres I believe. To make a long story short I signed up to be one of the expansion homes on fiber list and wondering if you wouldn't mind just connecting me first on the way to union bay estates. Thanks.8.1KViews0likes9CommentsDestiny 2 is borderline unplayable on Telus
Well, borderline unplayable in PVE. Completely unplayable in PVP. There are widespread reports of players on Telus fibre internet (a major telecom in the area) getting consistent 'connecting to destiny servers' messages, baboon errors, enemy rubber banding, bad hit detection, etc. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260785848?showBanned=0&path=0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260790745?showBanned=0&path=0 I can personally confirm. For the record. I have 1000/1000 internet, connected via ethernet cable, with port forwarding. Running a VPN to Seattle fixes the issue. I have the willingness, wherewithal to do so [even though I shouldn't have to] but a lot of people probably wouldn't even think to try. These issues began on March 17th. I'm not sure what changes Telus made to their network at that time, but they need to fix this asap.Solved7.4KViews3likes6CommentsFIBRE CABLE SPECS
I had a Telus technician come to my condo in March to set-up my unit for Fibre. He took one look at my router location and asked that I call an electrician to fish the fibre from the connector at my front door to where the router is. I have an electrician lined-up, but he needs confirmation if: -The fibre is single mode -The connector type needed is a model SC I have contacted Telus support multiple times and have been passed around to multiple departments. No one seems to know the answer. One support person even gave me the phone number of the Telus Technician who came to my residence in March, but he is fully ghosting me. Can anyone assist? I live in Victoria, if that helps.6.2KViews0likes3CommentsFiber in our building
Hi, We are a small indigenous non-profit in the Vancouver DTES and currently have the fastest Telus can give us, which is 50 Mbps down and 4 Mbps up. This is not sufficient for our needs in moving to VoIP and more cloud work. We did contact Telus and I asked they suggested a link http://www.telus.com/i-want-fibre (that didn't work) to ask for fibre - we are at Dundas and Wall Street and want to know if we will get fibre in the future? Thank you3.2KViews0likes1CommentIs Telus Customer Support That Bad?
Today I went to upgrade my 1Gig Fibre plan to 3Gig. I have all my own equipment, router, ONT etc. I tell the lady I don't need to rent equipment or have a tech sent out as I always do my own internet install. For god sake the worker on the phone is forcing me to rent equipment, have a tech sent out, will not listen to my inquiry at all. Also quoted me higher than the price given on the website to modify my plan. How in gods name do we get a customer agent/technician over the phone to satisfy my needs? Never ONCE have I had this issue in my years with Telus, always a easy to use upgrade / change. Never once have I had this happen. Really disappointed.2.5KViews0likes5CommentsFibre Infrastructure in my Neighbourhood
I live in Penticton B.C. Canada near the Skaha side. I'm wondering how I can convince Telus to set up a Fibre Internet Infrastructure in my neighborhood. It's almost 2025, there should be no reason why it isn't already set up. You guys only offer 25mbps in my area!1KViews0likes1CommentRequest Fibre Optic Internet for Statra Building
Hi everyone, I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with this or knows what the process is like for getting fibre installed in a strata-managed building. We had a fibre internet contract with Telus with our old place and now we are moving to a new place which a unit in older complex. When I contacted Telus, they mentioned that our building doesn’t currently have fibre installed, and ROA need to be signed by the building owner or strata if we wanted it to be install. My landlord (the owner of the unit) is giving a green light already, but he also would like to know more details and what would be the cost so he can bring this up to council meeting. We'd love to have faster and more stable internet since we are working from home and it requires a lot of download/ upload heavy files. Any advice for what would be the next steps for all of us?or who should i be contacting would be super appreciated! Thanks so much!342Views0likes0CommentsTELUS PureFibre Installation: Property Impact Guide
