Hi, I am trying to connect my Mikrotik router directly by plugging in the SFP directly into the router. I got the PPPoE from the telus whitebox (username: [email protected], password is 6 chars long). VLAN is 40, priority is 0. I also set the MAC to the same value that was on the telus whitebox. I plugged the SFP directly into the mikroik and it shows the link is up. It also shows it is trying to connect using PPPoE. It sends one frame over the VLAN, but doesn't get any response. Without any error other than timeout, this is hard to debug. Any suggestions? Thanks, Bruce70Views0likes5CommentsPSA to everyone having tech difficulties
Please dont waste your time waiting for a callback or sit on hold for an hour to speak to someone. If you're experiencing constant audio and channel problems. Hey guys, I want to move away from Telus' equipment and install my Ubiquiti UCG-Fiber and U7 Lite access points. I currently have fiber internet, Optik TV with legacy equipment, and a home phone. In the network panel, I have a Telus-supplied NAH, WiFi booster 6E, and some splitters. What is the purpose of the MoCA port on the NAH? I have no idea why there are multiple splitters installed and with RG-6 cables on them. I want to clean and tidy up the network panel as it's a total mess. Is it possible to remove the NAH and plug the ONT, legacy TV equipment, and home phone to my UCG-Fiber? I know the internet works if I connect the ONT directly to the UCG-Fiber's WAN port. If not, is the best case scenario to leave the home phone and legacy Optik equipment with the NAH, and then bridge one of the LAN ports and connect that to the UCG-Fiber? Not sure what a NAT and double NAT are, but will this problem occur with this setup? I have no interest or desire to install Rogers' Internet service. For my security, is there a way to unplug Rogers' equipment from my house, or if it's a condo? I'm contemplating installing MoCA adapters. Looking for advice on how to best optimize my new home network/topology. Thank you!33Views0likes0CommentsInternet services are ridiculously expensive
When can I change to a cheaper plan while I am still within a two-year plan? Can I opt out of an existing plan and request a cheaper plan? I have found the speed of the newer plans mirrors what I currently have, but my payments per month would save $40, which is a lot when looking at rising expenses.Solved56Views0likes1CommentLogin to router
I'm trying to login to my router, "Z wave plus", which I've always been able to do but recently, it refuses to let me. I've never changed the default password, and even trying to change the password, it asks for the default password printed on the router, which I enter but it still says that the password is incorrect. What's the solution?140Views0likes15CommentsHow to deal with outside broken wires and very simple people working for telus?
Had a technician install new telus internet at the beginning of december. Technician had run to and fro between the house and the street pedestal, and determined that the wiring up on the electrical poles was broken somewhere. Two and half months later, another technician technician came, drove to and fro between the house and the street pedestal (is is more than 100m), climbed few poles, and determined that the wires between the house and the telus street box are broken. I asked him to wire in the modem anyway, so when next technician comes with a spool of wire, they do not have to enter the house, all they need is to run the wire between the box on the outside wall and their street pedestal. Astonishingly, I received a message that the service is now up. Tried to communicate with their AI assistant, asking for live agent. AI assistant failed. Got an email, supposedly from live person, who suggested that I unplug and plug in the modem. Did the movie "Idiocracy", https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/ get its inspiration from how telus functions? Anybody here has an email for someone high up on the telus chain of command who understand the phrase "wires are broken" and can do something about it?106Views0likes4CommentsLaneway house connection?
Hi! I’ve tried calling customer support but get nowhere with this. I currently have Telus home services (phone, internet) to my house. We have built a new Laneway home on the same property. The city requires we run a new Telus service to the Laneway home underground, and also take the older main homes service from overhead and also place underground. Who do I contact to begin this process on Telus’s end? thank you!95Views0likes4CommentsWifi asking for sign in
My wifi started asking me to sign in all of a sudden but I am unable to do so. The sign in link takes me to an unavailable page for order.fiber.telus.com. I've never had to sign in to use my wifi before and restarting the modem did nothing. Can someone please help me to get this working properly again?113Views0likes3CommentsPoor Routings to game servers
I’ve been a long time customer at Telus for about 6 to 7 years and possibly experienced 3 or 4 outages since but every time I play Valorant or apex legends the routings to those games are horrendous sometimes I won’t even send the required packets for the server to give me enough updates and it’s not even just Valorant I used a software on my computer called pingplotter which measures packet loss and hops in your network routing and to Apex Valorant Marvel rivals CoD and so many other games but CSGO my graph was green and i was lagging if you want test the same thing download ping plotter set your trace interval to 1 and Focus time to 5 and ping 192.207.0.1 and let me know how your graph looks92Views0likes3CommentsIssue with NH20A bridge mode
Hey there, I’m a newbie when it comes to networking. I have an issue trying to bridge the NH20A to my ubiquiti cloud gateway fibre. I have 1.5G fibre. I’ve tried everything I can think of and from research I’ve done and still can’t get it to connect. I’ve tried all ports bridged, port 1, 10g port. Factory resetting the NH20A and for whatever reason it will not provide internet to the ucg fibre. I’ve tried configuring the ucg to pppoe with all the accurate credentials and vlan 40 tags. I can get it to connect in a double NAH set up but the internet speed is abysmal. Only 0.1mbs. I’ve tried changing the ip addresses. Any further guidance or any other ideas would be greatly appreciated! thanks!164Views0likes1Comment
