Optik TV
96 TopicsDo Not upgrade Optik TV Digital Box until you have to.
I received an email saying that I qualified to update my Telus digital box. I thought oh great filled out the form and hit send me new boxes with the warning the old boxes will stop working two weeks from shipping date. They arrived quickly next day by Purolator. I hooked up one of the boxes and started browsing and quickly noticed changes that I am not fond of. No channel preview in the guide just a picture, so you can't see if you are switching in to a commercial Channel information in the guide used to show actors and year show/ movie was made/aired. Now it just shows a brief description. Search used to be able to search live TV and demand for easy series record. Now it just shows on demand. Record now only stores for 90 days. None of my recorded stuff switched over (which I did see that it said it might not but I figured I would cross my fingers and hold my breath) I also had Christmas movies saved for years for easy holiday watching. Overall I think the boxes are a huge downgrade and if your current box is working properly don't bother with the upgrade.443Views4likes2CommentsShowing "My favourite channels" suddenly doesn't work
Hello, All my favourite channels still have hearts on the "Edit favourites" screen, and all my subscribed channels are there, but on the Telus TV 21T box, as well as in the Firestick app, the guide only shows 7 channels (149,351..) when filtering for "My favourite channels", none of which have hearts. The favourite channels are properly filtered on the website telustvplus. This happens for multiple "who's watching" sign-ins and the same 7 channels are the only ones listed in the guide. Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do to get it to work again -- it had been working for the past year without problem? I have reboot and tried toggling new channels as favourites, but nothing fixes it. Thank you.361Views2likes25CommentsTELUS TV+ Is Now on Smart TVs - Your Favourite Shows, Your Way

After a couple of weeks with the new Telus Evolution, I noticed that I was getting little to no surround sound and even having to change my receiver to simulated surround mode just to get my sub amps to output. Using the Netflix app on the Telus box, I tested with a Dolby Atmos movie (war scene from All Quiet on the Western Front) and there is almost no sound out of the surround speakers - I can hear it a little if I put my ear to the speaker. If I resume the movie via Apple TV 4K through the same amp, which sends all signals to the TV via the same active 8K HDMI cable, I'm fully immersed in a war zone. I just ended a tech call to essentially be told that there is a known issue with the output of 5.1 and that there is no repair date noted yet. As I search online, I find complaints from 4 months ago for the same issue. They even advertise that the new Optik supports Dolby Atmos. How can Telus market this feature when they are well aware that it is not working? Totally deceptive. Every day that passes, I have come to realize that Telus is using us to beta test a system that is plagued with issues and a tech support team that appears to have little training on supporting the new gear. Come on Telus, get your act together. I didn't sign up to be a product tester.3.7KViews2likes2CommentsTV-21T Box Won't Wake, Have To Reboot Every Day
I've had a TV-21T box since late August 2024. I worked fine up until a few days ago. At the beginning of March 2025 I encountered a problem where the box wouldn't wake from "network standby" (blue LED), and it has now become a daily problem that is only resolved by rebooting the box. Here's what happens: Box is in “network standby” mode (blue LED) Pressing the Home button on the Telus remote doesn’t wake up box as it used to I have to power the box off and power on again (I use my LG TV remote to do this as it doesn’t work with the Telus remote) Box starts up, screen with animation, LED flashes white Message “Active Internet connection established” (the box is connected to the router via Ethernet) Box works as it should Next day, rinse and repeat I have tried the usual troubleshooting steps with no luck. Nothing about my system has changed, and the TV-21T box worked fine for 6 months, so I'm assuming there was a software update on the box that changed something. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and if so, were you able to resolve the issue?3.1KViews1like8CommentsMy Favourite Channels 💜 Heart It and Watch It...When?

With respect to Optik TV+ 21T boxes, the persistent issues with My Favorites and Recording Settings/Options are in their 2nd year. Is it asking too much: Telus, if you are reading this, are there any resolutions in the works? If so, any updates or ETA? Is cable TV still part of your mission? Last I checked it's still a line item on my monthly Home/Internet Services bill. Cable TV appears to have taken a back seat, or perhaps not even seated next, to Streaming and OnDemand services. Not looking for Amazon Fire Stick just a Telus Glow Stick would suffice for now. A non-complicated, unencumbered TV viewing experience is not a lot to ask; considering, we are committed to 2yr plans for just that!2.3KViews1like4CommentsPurefibre Internet Gigabit and Optik TV Install Nightmare
I'm having a horrible time getting my internet hooked up. Has anyone else had any issues with TELUS technician "no shows"? I have had 3 confirmed appointments booked in the last ten days and each time the technician has failed to show up. TELUS technical support has been no help. I think I've spent more time with them in the last couple of weeks that my own family. The only thing that keeps it fresh is that every time I call TELUS technical support it's like starting from square one. I have to spend ten minutes explaining all of the previous failures of the technical support team, then they apologize profusely, then they tell me the problem has been solved. When I realize problem hasn't been solved, I call back and we start all over. It's an exquisite little dance we repeat over and over again.2.1KViews1like3Comments
