Strange Recording Behavior

I just upgraded from my old PVR Telus box

to the new Android TV box.  I have had this for just over two weeks.  Today when I got home from work I went into my recordings and had every eposode from this season of several shows I added.  For example I had every episode from this season of Elsbeth (and several from last season) - and the dates went all the way back to to when the epsiode originally aired - it said it recorded episode 1 on October 12th - weeks and weeks before I had my digital box? 

I cleared out all those, and now tonight it started to record Matlock...twice...at the same time.  It said one was being recorded off channel 255, and one had no channel listed.

If I look at what is scheduled to be recorded I can see the same thing, but not on all my recordings, only certain ones.  On Saturday it is going to record SNL twice at the same time, once it shows the channel 260, and the duplicate had no channel.

Any clue why this happening, and how to fix it.

  • I am having the same issue with entries for recording series on the digital box. This happened right after my recordings and schedules for series were transferred from my old PVR to the digital box. I also noticed that all transferred series recording information were missing the target channel.  When I edited the information with the target channel, the digital box said it was updated but then the series entry just disappears. Further attempts to re-create the series entry for the target channel were ignored by the digital box. 

    As a related issue, the TELUS TV+ app displays the scheduled series information but shows all series to record at 4pm and says there are no upcoming shows to record on any of the series (probably because none of the shows in my series broadcast around 4pm).  Also, it will not display any of my recorded shows, new or old, whether from a series or as a single recording; the message displayed is "no recorded content".  I have purged the cache, deleted the data, uninstalled the app and re-installed it multiple times without success.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • OK, since no other suggestions, delete all scheduled recordings and then re enter one that you want to record. Kinda like a reboot to recording setting.

      Please reply here, as it is a forum and many of us have the same issue and would like the response/solution as well. 

  • There is a subsetting in recordings to record one time per day. There is also a setting to record only first run.

      Thanks for the suggestion - but I have those set so it only records new episodes, and one once per day.  Knew that from my old Telus box!

    As for the program recording two simultaneous streams, it could be due to certain programs airing on two separate channels at the same time. Many major network programs such as this air for example on CBS and Global. As for the other recording issue, we've flagged it to our Optik team and once they have an update for us, we'll let you know!
