Just Moved In

I am attaching a list of calls made yesterday from 7;00 am to 10:00 am all from a so called Olive from Amazon. They all purport that someone has posted a purchase to my account and if I wish to cancel the charge press for one for more details. I didn't do as requested knowing this be a Phony call.  What I found interesting was all the numbers are 604-222 starting which is the same as my land line and that most show up showing the same number twice on two separate lines.

In addition a couple of the calls came in without a second line showing and four of the calls indicated that the caller was from UBC.  I now see you don't have an attachment icon to add the scanned list of calls but in the three hour period I received 17 calls , All from Olive from Amazon.  Surely the telephone industry can come up with a system to prevent these calls from moving forward using apparently unused phone numbers from being used to contact users.  I have already previously blocked 60 numbers, the max my system permits, and many of these use the same 604- 222 prefix.  If you wish the list of numbers please send me an e-mail.   Thanks

That is an incredibly well known scam. There is a solution that Telus provides that blocks them quite effectibely. It's called Call Control.

Do not talk to them or press 1 when the recording says to as it will encourage them to call more and to sell your phone number as a known number that will answer. All of the phone numbers you see on call display are spoofed (fake).

Telus offers a free Call Control Feature that does a nice job blocking spam autodialers. You can turn it on by logging in to your Telus account and selecting "Home Phone" / "Manage" / "Call Control"

When enabled Call Control will intercept the inbound call and prompt the caller with a 1 digit number to enter on their phone. If the caller enters the number correctly the call is put through. If not the call is disconnected.

The feature also allows  you to set up a white list of up to 25 phone numbers that can be excluded from the call control.
