We recently moved into a new home where the previous owners were Telus customers. We are not, but the previous owners left their cable boxes, which are hardwired into the house. We tried calling support several times to have these removed and feel we have been given the run around and told this is not possible. We were told that these could be dangerous to remove on our own. How do we go about getting these removed and why doesn’t Telus want their units back?

What are the "boxes" and what do you mean by hardwired? If you are talking about routers and Optik TV boxes you can just unplug them.

One says Nokia, and says Telus, but because we don’t have an account, Telus couldn’t tell us exactly and when they look up the address they don’t have the information. The previous owner left a note saying they were put in when fibre optic was brought into the house. The cables don’t unplug, they go right into the wall.

The Nokia is most likely the ONT. Does it look like this?

The wires may go into the wall but there's no reason you can't unplug the end of the wire from the Nokia and remove the Nokia from the wall by sliding it up off the mounting screws.

The ONT is considered a fixed asset, and stays with the house, just as the terminal block for landlines did in the past. Only the routers, TV set top boxes, etc., are to be returned.
