In 2023, I was, very briefly, a Telus Optik TV and internet subscriber. The many, many issues with the Optik set-top boxes forced me to switch to Shaw, who gave me a great deal on a 1.5 Gbps internet plan and TV package. I see that now Telus offers 3G and 5G internet packages. I would consider switching back to Telus if the Optik box issues were remedied. I followed the forum closely in 2023 but have not done so lately. Can somehow tell me whether the boxes are working as they should (or at least as well as the Shaw boxes, with which I have no issues) or are there still outstanding problems that need to be addressed? If so what are those problems? Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Jack

No, they are not. I suspect a hardware problem that is not possible to fix with software.
Internet speed? You must be an online gamer as internet speed is one thing I have no issue with at 250mbs

The Telus Optik boxes have unfortunately been a nightmare. Were good for the past year but these last few months, am now on my 3rd box replacement. The remote has continually disconnected, I’ve replaced the batteries several times and sometimes that does the trick, but for the most part the boxes will work for awhile and then all the sudden say it cant find the input and doesn’t connect.
Telus just sent me another new box and upon setting it up tonight, it isn’t even working! I am beyond frustrated and sick and tired of having calls with customer support to go through the motions of “unplug the box, try the reset, etc”
plus the interface I find terrible on Optik. Fast forward is automatically 30 seconds at a time and when you do a search for a movie it doesn’t show you if it will ever be on tv, and barely shows where it can be viewed except maybe YouTube.
I found Shaws interface was awesome and easy to search items, see when they would be coming on tv to record.
Planning to switch back and be on Rogers after all this.
