I have pre-authorized payments set up on my account but I'd like to pay my bill early to get it out of the way. Can I do this or will it still take out the charge on the regular day so I'd end up paying double?

If you make a payment after the statement is issued then the pre authorized payment won't know about it. The pre authorized payment triggers about a week before the due date anyway so it's already early.

Typically, the pre-authorized payment will be charged on the specified date. If you pay your bill in advance, there is a chance that the provider's system will still perform an automatic debit on the specified date, even if you have already paid the bill manually.

Ok thanks for the info. I'll just wait until it takes it out then.
