I bought a Samsung galaxy discover phone, the battery life lasted less then a day after (after a full charge). It did this a few times so I took it back and exchanged for the exact same phone, still having the same problem except the new phone ran out of power faster the my first one (9 hours). I don't run any apps or use data plans or take pics. All I have used it for is a few phone calls an a couple of texts. Does wifi drain you battery even when not in use? Anyone else have this problem?

Yep this is normal... for nearly all smartphones. I see a lot of people bragging about the new smartphone they purchased. My first question is how's the battery life. How's the battery life after one month when the battery is broken in.
I know this is an old thread but I'm frustrated with Telus tonight as their "contact via email" works as well as this phone!!! I have to totally disagree with you XL. My wifes Samsung Galaxy Discovery gets less than 12 hours out of a charge when she doesn't use it at all. This is with wi-fi off, blue tooth off, screen turned to lowest setting etc. It never charges past 99% even if it's plugged in for 24 hours. Every time she tries to use it, it's dead!! A co-worker of mine has the same phone, has his wi-fi on 24/7, receives and sends a few texts every day and he gets at least 3 days out of a charge. Check this phones reviews on Google....same complaint, poor battery life. I have had my LG Optimus One for 2 years. Wi-Fi and bluetooth on 24/7, bright screen, send and receive a few texts a day, make the odd short call every day and I can get 4-5 days out of a charge. The Samsung phone is a piece of garbage and Telus wont do anything about it. They blame it on the battery and they've given us a couple of batteries. When I checked the power usage tab on the phone, it showed the cellphone used 3% and the screen using 97%. How? The screen is off...dark....black!!! So please don't go around saying that ALL smartphones are like this
Maybe I should have stated in my rant that it was first brought to telus's attention within the first 30 days and they just gave me a new battery saying that it was the problem. By the time we determined that it was still crapping out, the 30 day return warranty was done and they wouldn't accept it. They never filled out a warranty slip or anything so there was no record. Once the 30 days are up you are on your own. Telus must have known about this problem and by offering batteries, they were prolonging claims until they became Samsung problem.
Hi, I use to sell mobile devices few years ago (not for Telus) and I'm also a smarthphone user and I don't believe that the mobile provider will have much control over battery issues, it's mostly the manufacturer. I had most of the popular devices in the last few years and none of them was lasting more than 1 day. How did I fix this, by getting an extra battery and few home/car chargers on Ebay. It may not be the answer you wanted but it works for me, hope it will help you and good luck.
