Since Mike is not long for this world, I was wondering if there are plans to upgrade Mike-only towers from iDEN hardware to the UMTS/LTE hardware?
Specifically, I'm interested in the tower on Lookout Ridge in Chilliwack: http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html?lat=49.110189&lng=-121.844895&zoom=14&type=road...
Right now the Telus coverage in Ryder Lake is practically non-existent: http://www.cellmapper.net/map?MCC=302&MNC=880&type=UMTS&latitude=49.10423950402837&longitude=-121.86... If they upgraded the tower at Lookout Ridge I would think it would provide coverage to the bulk of Ryder Lake, as well as extend coverage further along Chilliwack Lake Road.
It looks like Telus is playing around with the Mike network, as a bunch of sites changed frequencies at the beginning of the year. This site in particular changed from 863.3375/818.3375 MHz to 865.8375/820.8375 MHz according to the TAFL
