Not receiving all phone calls

My boyfriend has an iPhone 7 Plus through Telus and sometimes he does not receive calls. For example, I’ll call him and it will just ring and ring on my end without going to voicemail, and his phone doesn’t ring or say missed calls. This happens frequently and we’ve done hard resets, reset his network settings and turned off wifi calling. We called Telus and the tech guy was literally zero help and didn’t understand our issue. Does anyone have any clue as to what’s going on and how we can fix it? He works on call and he is missing calls because of this.

A web search on the term “why does cellphone not ring when called” returns lots of answers. Based on your description, it might be a bad SIM, or could be a network issue. I suggest noting times and locations where this happens, and contacting tech service at Telus for further assessment. However, before taking that step, make sure ‘Do Not Disturb’ is not set.

And before anyone asks: airplane mode is off, our account is in good standing, his ringer is on, his do not disturb is off, and we are in a city with regular coverage

Can you get to a corporate store to let somebody look at the phone and actually see what's happening? Sometimes that's the best thing.
