New Cell Service for Remote Community

I can't seem to get an answer from Telus on this question I have. I heard that there is a new device that can be put on the telephone / hydro poles that is replacing the 'tower' for cell service in remote areas. I want to talk with someone at Telus to find out the details for our community. Who do I phone or talk to??? I've waited twice on the Telus line waiting for service for half an hour the one call and 15 minutes the other call and they cannot give me the information. Thus, here I am on Neighborhood looking for help to get the information / answers. Is there a Telus rep that could answer me please???

There are devices called micro-cells or pico-cells which may be installed to provide service in localized areas, some of which are remote, some not. I have known them to have been installed in shopping centres, at some border crossings, and in sporting venues. They cover a relatively small area, sometimes little more than the footprint of the store, and sometimes a slightly larger area. They are often a poor solution for remote areas, as a backhaul is still needed to connect to the rest of the network, and they cover a very localized area. The one I am aware of installed at a border crossing was installed subsequent to a business plan being submitted by the regional installation team to the appropriate department in Telus to approve and have the system installed. It may have been speeded because the Feds had already installed Fibre to the outpost, which was available fo the backhaul, and there is a lot of traffic and goods being moved through the crossing.

I live in a small community that is suppose to blanketed by LTE service, How does one apply to have a micro cell installed in Cheadle AB so my phone will work

The process is managed through the coverage map. Go to your location on the map, and then choose to Report a Problem, as described at the bottom of the page linked above. Encourage your neighbours to use the tool. 

At home, you can also choose a phone supporting Wi-Fi calling.

Hmm..... Cheadle shows great coverage on the Telus coverage map.  However when I look at https://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html, the nearest Telus tower is by Strathmore and Langdon 10km away.

To clarify... is your coverage problem both indoors and outdoors.  Or indoors only?

Yes.... as NFtoBC suggested... I would report a service problem.

The most "remote" service I'm familiar with is the town of Stewart BC, which borders on Alaska.  Lots of towers popping up around Cranbrook due to all the commerce through there.

I know that Telus has a big push for the microcells now (still waiting for Chilliwack to go live) but it would be nice if they followed through with some of the macro cell towers they asked to build 4-5 years ago along Hwy 3.
